I am grateful for the endorsement of the Communications Workers of America for our campaign for Florida’s 23rd Congressional District. I am proud to stand with the CWA against corporate greed and politics as usual, and for a progressive agenda to improve the lives of working families all across America.
We call for holding Wall Street accountable for the damage it has done to our communities through its speculative and predatory financial practices. We need real reform of big Wall Street banks and we need to encourage alternative sources of financing to support Main Street interests, including postal and community banking. We need to empower the Consumer Protection Bureau with the tools to regulate predatory practices that prey on consumers, from payday loans to racial discrimination in car loans and home mortgages.
I stand with the CWA in fighting against the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which threatens to outsource hundreds of thousands of American jobs while undermining our public health and safety and environmental protections. We must revitalize our economy and end four decades of stagnant wages and weak labor markets that have brought terrible harm to working families and their communities.
We recognize that to achieve our progressive agenda, we must first clean up the corruption in our politics. Together we will stand against the flood of money in our politics from rich and powerful special interests that are corrupting our democracy. We must insist on full disclosure in campaign finance law and a transparent system of publicly financed campaigns that amplifies small donations. That is why our campaign is not taking a penny from corporations, political action committees (PACs) and Super PACs.
I am proud to stand with the CWA in our campaign for progressive reform and I am eternally grateful for their support.
